Action Plan by Department

Food and Beverage
Recycle as much as possible our food products.
Report as soon as possible any water leakage in order to avoid waste of water waste.
Create awareness amongst the rest of the department employees.

Gardening Department
Keep better control of organic waste.
Protect the micro watersheds that are located within the property.
Make sure that the garbage is properly located.

Maintenance Department
Make and implement a preventive maintenance program within the hotel for air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Keep an accurate control on the recyclable materials that the hotel generates.
Maintan studies of the quality of the waste waters that the hotel produces.
Preventive maintenance of the electric and gas systems on periodic basics.

Housekeeping Department
Make sure that the waste produced on the property is properly recycled.
Diminish the amount of chemical products used in the hotel.
Diminish the consumption of electricity and water usage.
Motivate our department employees in order to achieve these goals.

Gift Shop and Art Gallery
Diminish the consumption of electricity in the gift shop.
Promote recycling of materials. (ie. packing boxes & bags)
Stop using chlorine or bleach for cleaning the gift shop.
Promote the purchase of environmentally friendly products for inventory.

Fincas Naturales (Private Wildlife Refuge)
Locate proper signage for the trails in order to help educate the public about ecological systems.
Produce recycled paper from the hotel waste.
Create an education program for neighboring schools to implement.
Promote the protection of watersheds related to the property.
Create organic compost with natural waste from the hotel.
Invite visitors to learn about the refuge conservation efforts.
Reproduce plants that are hospitable to local fauna working with our staff biologist and other expertise (MINAE, IMBIO).

Reception Department
Maintain recycling bins, properly identified, in the lobby.
Promote the reduction of waste and CST goals in guest orientation.
Create awareness within the hotel and the rest of the community of the existing pollution problems and solutions.
